Volunteer Abroad in Argentina
Why Volunteer in Argentina?
Argentina’s beautiful geography, intense history, and welcoming people make the country a top destination for international volunteers. Argentina offers a different experience than other Latin American countries. The country has a distinctly European feel portrayed through the architecture, art and general lifestyle of the country.
Despite its natural beauty and amazing people, Argentina faces problems that plague many Latin American countries. The fluctuating economy has left many Argentines in poverty, while the delicate, diverse landscapes are persistently battling the effects of climate change. World Endeavors volunteers in Argentina have the opportunity to work directly with these issues, while also experiencing all that the culture has to offer.
Live in Buenos Aires
In the far corner of South America rests Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. This city is known as the most European city in South America, but is dancing with Latin flair. Although the city was shaped by European immigrants centuries ago, the culture of the city has taken a shape of its own. Artists cover drab walls with splashes of bright pastels, particularly prominent in the La Boca neighborhood. Even the presidential palace, aptly named la Casa Rosada, boasts a bright rose color from top to bottom.
Although Buenos Aires is bursting with color and vibrancy, the capital city is not immune to problems that typically plague large cities. The fluctuating economy has left many Argentines in poverty, while the delicate ecosystem surrounding the city is persistently battling the effects of climate change. World Endeavors volunteers in Buenos Aires have the opportunity to work directly with these issues, while also experiencing all that Argentine culture has to offer.
We offer volunteer placements in Argentina in the following fields:
Housing: Volunteers stay with local host families, where they share space, build relationships, practice Spanish, and learn about traditional culture, food, home rituals and customs. Host families are welcoming and hand-picked to ensure that placements provide a safe and positive environment for our volunteers. Housing accommodations are modest, safe and clean, but may differ from your norms in terms of space or amenities. Volunteers receive an individual room and are expected to display respect and consideration for the host family. Living with a host family is a great way to experience total immersion in Argentine culture, which can be both challenging and rewarding, but ultimately provides the most authentic experience of Argentina.
