Intern Abroad in China
As the world’s fastest growing major economy, China is the place to be for interns seeking opportunities in fields ranging from business to technology to education and development. However, China’s booming job market is not its only draw. China’s fascinating mix of ancient and modern, along with its art, food, and incredible regional differences, have drawn visitors for centuries. The natural beauty of the Chinese landscape is as diverse as the people who call this vast country home, and offers the adventurous traveler the opportunity to explore to their heart’s content.
Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.
Live in Beijing or Shanghai, China
As the capital of China and one of country’s largest metropolitan cities, Beijing attracts people from all over China and all over the world. Bicycles mix with luxury cars on the city’s broad avenues, tourists mingle with old-timers in the city’s many parks, and international restaurant chains sit next to centuries-old noodle shops in this city of contrasts. Home to close to 22 million people, the city is full of life and activity at every turn. After hosting the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing underwent a vast and expensive overhaul, which saw the installation of several new parks, community centers, and landmarks that have helped beautify this all ready historical and fascinating city.
Shanghai is China’s largest city and a global powerhouse in industries ranging from art to business. This youthful, outward-looking city is by some accounts home to almost one-quarter of the world’s construction cranes. Shanghai is truly where China meets the rest of the world for trade, politics, entertainment and tourism. The city’s towering architecture and its ever-expanding skyline represent its position as the jewel in China’s crown as the fastest growing major economy in the world.
