Program Description:

The Hopkins Chile program in Santiago, Chile is designed for students with a high level of Spanish proficiency and independence to study Spanish Literature at the renowned private university, Universidad Finis Terrae. UFT is an academic community of higher education in which its teachers and students, in a rigorous and critical way, contribute to personal formation, to the progress of sciences and to the development of cultural heritage, through research, teaching and various broadcasting services offered to society.

  • Students must have a very high level of Spanish proficiency and independence as they will be one of very few, if not the only, U.S. students at the university

Courses and CreditsSantiago Santa Lucia

Students must take 3-5 classes per semester. Courses will all be taught in Spanish. Students will take up to 5 literature and creative writing courses taught by renowned Latin American writers. They will also have the opportunity to take courses in the history and journalism departments.

Students pay JHU tuition, which will be billed to the student account. Students pay housing directly to the housing provider on site. Financial aid may be applied toward the cost of the program.

Application Process

(2) JHU will review this application and nominate qualified candidates to the university for participation on the program
