Dennis Ngo - BME/premed student
This past summer, I studied abroad in Lisbon, Portugal, where I explored Portuguese culture, food, and language. Previously, during my sophomore summer, I was an engineering research intern at the Mechanobiology Institute at the National University of Singapore, studying extracellular matrix remodeling in cardiac fibroblasts
Cassandra Nguyen - BME/premed student
Over the summer, I participated in the Hopkins Madrid Engineering Research program working on a clinical research project aimed at improving the early diagnosis of chronic diseases by developing dynamic diagnostic thresholds. During fall of 2025, I spent a semester in Melbourne, Australia taking BME upper-level electives and engaging with the community.
Lucas Hertzel - BME/Materials Science
I studied abroad this past summer in Berlin, Germany through the CIEE global internship program. As well as exploring German culture and developing my langauge skills, I worked on developing new fluorescent protein variants and engineering a bacterial screening platform. I now also work for the Global Education Office helping other students on their study abroad journeys!
