Learn about our new French immersion program in the Caribbean!
This unique opportunity to develop your skills in French immerses you in the vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and complex history of Guadeloupe, one of France’s two overseas departments in the Caribbean. Each morning, intensive language sessions prep you for the day’s activities, which range from exploring biodiversity in the tropical rain forest and coastal mangroves to visiting historic sites linked to the slave trade, popular resistance, and abolitionism. Workshops and presentations by local experts and program faculty introduce you to Creole folklore, music, and food, as well as to the richly ambivalent ties that generations of French Antilleans have held with metropolitan France. This twelve-day program is an ideal way to plunge back into French language or to continue your course of study in an extraordinary setting. Intermediate proficiency in French or equivalent required.
